Dr. Loehr is the Co-Founder of the Human Performance Institute, in Orlando, Florida. He is also the Founding Director of Sport Science for the United States Tennis Association. Dr. Loehr was the first person in the United States to be awarded the highest designation of Master Professional by both the PTR and the USPTA. For his contributions, he received the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s Educational Merit Award. He was inducted into the Colorado Tennis Hall of Fame in 2003, received the Alex Gordon USPTA Pro of the Year award in 2003, and the Plagenhoff Award for contributions in Sport Science in 1996.


He has worked with over 80 world-class tennis players including Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, Monica Seles, Gabriela Sabatini, Jim Courier and Sergi Bruguera, as well as with numerous professional golfers from the U.S. and European PGA Tours, including Mark O’Meara and Ernie Els. He has worked with hockey greats Eric Lindros and Mike Richter, basketball stars Nick Anderson and Grant Hill, WBA champion Ray Mancini, middle distance runner Regina Jacobs, and Gold medal speed skater Dan Jansen.


Dr. Loehr has published a wide variety of training materials, videotapes, and audiotapes in the area of Mental Toughness training. His videos include Prince Presents the Science of Winning, Mental Toughness Training for Tennis - The 16 Second Cure, The 12 Tips to Mental Toughness, and Play Your Best Tennis. His audiotapes include The IPS Music Workout - The Get Tough Tape, Love the Battle, Mental Matchplay for Tennis, Mental Toughness Training, and Mental Toughness Training for Sport. He has authored 14 books, which include The Power of Story (recently released), The Power of Full Engagement, Stress for Success, The New Toughness Training for Sports, Toughness Training for Life, The Mental Game, The Science of Coaching Tennis, The Parent-Player Tennis Training Program, Net Results: Training the Tennis Parent for Competition, Mentally Tough, Mental Toughness Training for Sports, and Take a Deep Breath. Dr. Loehr has been a monthly contributing editor for World Tennis and Tennis Magazine for 10 consecutive years, and he is a consistent contributor to a wide variety of sports and business publications.


Dr. Loehr possesses a Doctorate and Masters Degrees in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Loehr is listed on the official United States Olympic Committee Registry of Sports Psychologists (approved in both Educational and Clinical). He is a full member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology (AAASP), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).


Dr. Loehr has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s Nightline with Ted Koppel, The CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, and The CBS Morning News. He has also been featured on CBS’s 48 Hours and 60 minutes, CBS Sports, CNN, ESPN, USA Network, Inside Edition, A Current Affair, Germany’s ZDF and SAT1, Japan’s FUJI-TV, and many other programs. His work has been chronicled in leading national publications including the Harvard Business Review, Fortune, Newsweek, Time, U.S. News & World Report, Success, Entrepreneur, Shape, Self, and Omni.
